چکیده

PurposeTo evaluate changes in diffusion and perfusion-related properties of white matter (WM) induced by proton therapy, which is capable a greater dose sparing to organs at risk with respect conventional X-ray radiotherapy, eventually expose early manifestations delayed neuro-toxicities.MethodsApparent coefficient (ADC) IVIM parameters (D, D* f) were estimated from diffusion-weighted MRI (DWI) 46 patients affected meningioma treated therapy. The impact on WM time, as well the influence demographic pre-treatment clinical information, investigated through linear mixed-effects models.ResultsDecreasing trends ADC D found for regions hit medium–high (30–40 Gy(RBE)) high (>40 doses, are compatible restriction due radiation-induced cellular injury. Significant time median observed. Also, showed significant dependency dose, whereas f consistently no time. Age, gender surgery extent also affect ADC.ConclusionsThese results overall agree those studies conducted cohorts mixed radiotherapy patients. Future work should focus relating our findings information co-morbidities thus exploiting such or more advanced imaging data build normal tissue complication probability models better integrate information.

proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy and cognitive impairment in patients with ischemic white matter lesions

background: the purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the cognitive impairment and naa/cr and cho/cr ratios in the proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1hmrs), and to assess the importance of 1hmrs in the early diagnosis of cognitive impairment in patients with ischemic white matter lesions (wmls). materials and methods: a total of 45 patients (23males and 22 femal...

White matter microsusceptibility changes in patients with hepatic encephalopathy.

We report a new radiological finding in two patients with hepatic encephalopathy. A new susceptibility-weighted (SWI) magnetic resonance imaging sequence revealed multiple bilateral microsusceptibility changes in the corpus callosum and white matter, while the conventional T1 and T2 weighted images were unremarkable. We postulate that the etiology of the microsusceptibility changes may be relat...

White matter changes in patients with cognitive impairment

Cerebral white matter changes (WMC), detected with computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), represent a common condition in elderly people. However, the prognostic, symptomatological and biochemical constituents of WMC are only partially known. The aim of the present study was to evaluate WMC in relation to clinical manifestations in patients with mild cognitive impairment ...

Intensive therapy induces contralateral white matter changes in chronic stroke patients with Broca's aphasia.

Using a pre-post design, eleven chronic stroke patients with large left hemisphere lesions and nonfluent aphasia underwent diffusion tensor imaging and language testing before and after receiving 15 weeks of an intensive intonation-based speech therapy. This treated patient group was compared to an untreated patient group (n=9) scanned twice over a similar time period. Our results showed that t...
